no cd drive


Installed mandrake 10.1 from cds now cd wont operate any ideas

What do you mean by will not operate. What are you trying to do?
Any error messages?

It will nor open and accept a cd. It operates if I shut down and press the open button while it powers up, but if I load MD normally it is like there is no power to the drive it will not open when I click on the desktop image of the cd drice it says
mount special device/dev/hdc does not exist
