NIC card and CD-Rom Problems
I just installed Red Hat Linux 7.2 on an old Gateway Solo 2000 laptop machine and I have encountered two problems. The first problem is that my PCMCIA card is not on the list of supported cards located in the /etc/pcmcia/config file. My questions on this are:
1. Can I just download the driver for my card and that will solve my network access problem?
2. If I download the driver, where do I install it to?
This leads to my last question. I can burn a copy of the driver from another computer but this Linux box will not access the CD-ROM drive. I went to mount the cd-rom but I get a message that say's "No medium detected" even though I have a cd-r in the machine.
3. How can I correct this error?
P.S. My kernel version is 2.4.7-10. Should I upgrade the kernel. If so, is there a good source that has instructions on how to perform the kernel upgrade?
Thanks in Advance
