nfsd: unrecognized service

I have a redhat 9 box that I need to access via nfs. On the client machine I get the following error:

# mount 192.168.1.5:/var/log/httpd /mnt
mount.nfs: mount to NFS server 'rpcbind' failed: RPC Error: Program not registered
mount.nfs: internal error

on the redhat server that needs to be allowing nfs access, I get:

nfsd: unrecognized service

when I try:

service nfsd start

However:

# service --status-all | grep nfs
nfsd is stopped

Any advice on how I can get my server to start nfs? Thanks.

In AS5 the service is called nfs, not nfsd ... check your /etc/init.d directory
to ascertain its name ...
