Newbie to Fedora Remote Desktop

Hi... just tinkering with Remote Desktop using the app that comes with Fedora FC3.

I want to connect to the Linux box using a Windows XP machine. I have UltraVNC installed on the Windows XP machine.

I can successfully connect to the Linux machine and get up and use the text based command terminal.

I expected to also be able to see and control my GUI desktop (KDE) much in the same way as using Remote Desktop from an XP machine to an XP machine.

How do I do this using the above? Any help is will be much appreciated.

On your Linux box open a console and type: vncserver -geometry 800x600 (or whatever desktop size you want to use) and press enter, you will get notification of what display number to use (either 1 or 2) this is the number you use from your windo$e box i.e. 192.168.1.100:1 will connect to that ip using display number 1.

Thanks... this option isn't given in the Fedora FC3 KDE Desktop Top Sharing Application accessed via the GUI.

Totally mis-read your post, remote desktop sharing it's where a temporary password is issued which is only valid for that session yes?

That app is for inviting someone else to look at your desktop, Remote Desktop Connection (or tightvnc) is what you need if you want to see and control a remote desktop.
