Newbie Seeks Help with MTU Settings? (SUSE 10)
Hi there,
I've just installed SUSE 10 and have made a network connection direct to my wireless router using an ethernet cable. I can view certain web pages (such as the BBC web page), but come unstuck when I attempt to register SUSE 10 on the Novell web site. I'm also unable to access https pages. :-( Please advise what I need to do in order to configure my web access. Do I need to set up an ADSL router config, or can I just modify the MTU setting provided by ifconfig? linux:/sbin # ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:01:80:52:15:F6 inet addr:192.168.1.100 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::201:80ff:fe52:15f6/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:1738 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1949 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:1187770 (1.1 Mb) TX bytes:345981 (337.8 Kb) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x6000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:136 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:136 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:9560 (9.3 Kb) TX bytes:9560 (9.3 Kb) linux:/sbin # All suggestions gratefully received. P.S. My ISP MTU setting on the router is 1400.

No problems. I found where I can modify the setting using YaST - Network Devices - Network Card. It was buried in there!
