Newbie question for openSUSE and fedora users

Why do you prefer openSUSE/fedora over ubuntu?
And would you suggest an absolute linux newbie to use it? When I say "newbie", I mean someone who knows the basic BASH commands but nothing more.

Impossible question to answer...like asking someone what their favorite color is, and why.

I prefer openSUSE, but have heard from others that they hate it, and love Ubuntu. Same with Fedora. If you are ABSOLUTELY new, coming from Windows, Ubuntu/Kubuntu would be, in my opinion, the easiest way to transition. But you'll get opinions all over the map too...best thing I can suggest, is to try them all...they're all free, and all have their strengths and weaknesses.
