Newbie - Maya 13 KDE not updating

Hi all from a newbie,

After dabbling and messing with various O/S's (CP/M, OS/2, PC-DOS, MS-DOS, MS-Windows) and different linux distro's over the years, I have decided to settle on Linux Mint (Maya) 13 KDE and Distro Astro as my linux distro's of choice. I must say it installed very easily without very little user input. The only issue I have though at the present time is that I unable get Maya to update the installed applications/software from the repositries. I believe 'Maya' is a long term release. Is there something that I have overlooked?

My setup is a Toshiba Tecra S1 (laptop). OK, it is old, but it works! A bit like me really!

Specs are:-
120GiB HDD - 4x partitions (primary) 80GiB Windows & (extended) 1.5GiB linux swap / 20GiB Distro Astro 1.0.2 / 12GiB Mint 13 KDE
1GiB RAM
1024x768 display
Huawei USB modem (T-Mobile ShareDock 100) - (for internet & Wi-Fi access).

Thank you for reading,

Philip

Maybe. Long term releases usually only get updates for security reasons, not because any particular software has a newer version.
