Newbie Installation problem
Newbie installation problem:
Well I got a little farther into the installation but when the screen that says: "What partition and directory holds the CD images for RedHat Linux?" I select the harddisk "/dev/hde1" where the linux I downloaded is and I tried selecting 2 different directories were I see files that have ".img" suffixes are: Linux/Disk1/images & Linux/Disk1/RedHat/base But neither seems to work:confused: What am I doing wrong, and just what directories are these CD images in anyway? -Thanks Unix Guru Rick |
Ok. It sounds like you have downloaded the ISO images and the directories you are currently looking at are the directories that would be on a CD.
If the ISO files are on hde1 (enigma-i386-disc1.iso and disc2) and are not in a directory of their own on that drive a single forward slash (/) designating that the file is in the root of that drive usually works. If that does not work try putting nothing in that blank. I have had to repeat this a couple of times on a few ocassions to get it to take and have not identified a reason. The mistake I have seen most often here is including the directory that the drive (filesystem) would be mounted at in the seach path. Nothing is mounted at this point in the install process. |
