Newbie Install Help Needed

Ok I decided to install Ubuntu 6.10, now I am having an issue installing my video card "Nvidia GeforceFX 5700" I installed the Nvidia X.Org Binary Drivers and then got lost trying to follow the directions Nvidia gave me to install the drivers on a 2.6.17-10-generic Linux Kernel.

You don't have to install the driver from Nvidia, it is already packaged for Ubuntu.
You just need to know where to find it

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Bi...erHowto/Nvidia

I didn't try this personally.
But reading through it I think it is quite correct and up-to-date.

Welcome

But you should describe your problem and solution in more details so that other people can take it as a reference if they encounter the same problem

Well I Followed that Link and I made the mistakes while following the directions and it was just trial and error from there, then finally I looked at what the directios were saying and I noticed the package i installed from teh add/remove programs section in Ubuntu 6.10 for the nvidia drivers was all i needed as far as graphics card drivers go....

and

The monitor ended up being the the problem to my resolution problems so I just added the resolution I knew my monitor supported that I wanted to the Default setting in the xorg.conf under the 24bit settings and then just rebooted gnome (crtl+alt+backspace) then relogged and set resolution..
