newbie in installing os. need directions to install fedora core 2

I ve downloaded fedora core 2. and burnt its image. While rechecking the burnt cd's i realised that 2 images- "bootcatalog.cat" and "bootimage.img" files are missing though the file size is the same in bits. and cud any1 tell me how to check md5 sum for the cd's i burnt. Also i'll be using dual boot system with windows xp in C: and D: and leave my E: for linux> I have 40 GB HDD divided into C:(13GB of which 2 GB is free), D:(13 GB of which 10 GB is free) and my E : is empied for Linux installation. D: and E: are extended partitions of a logical partition. So i ll have to repatition my drive can any1 tell me the best way 2 do so? And since ive got linux iso images on my D: which will be partitioned i suppose it wont be possible to do diskless install.
Also my experience level with computers is about intermidiate and i ve never installed an OS b4. Nither have i seen or worked on linux. So my experience on linux is nil.:Pengy:

FC2 and windows... like with most 2.6 based distro's it has a big problem with duall boots.

Info on iso's and md5:
http://www.linuxiso.org/

Resizing NFTS partitions:
http://mlf.linux.rulez.org/mlf/ezaz/ntfsresize.html

You could also try a distro that does this all for you.
