newbie: how to config shell to display i18l font?

Hi,

As for reading international characters (i.e big5 chinese) in a terminal/console, I've always been spoiled by fully packaged OS (like mandrake) 's built-in features.

Recently I've installed a strip down linux with iceWM as window manager (man..this thing is FAST!) and I noticed I can no longer able to read international characters in my shell...

I enjoy the speed I'm getting from my stripped down box, yet I'd like to be able to read characters other then english in my shell. Would anyone knows (or have references to show) how to config it?

Thank you.

I recommend you reading through the following HOWTO: http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Chinese-HOWTO.html. I was reading it too a bit and it looks like they'r having a few solutions to get the chinese character display and input working. Hope it helps

Regards
Andy
