Newbie getting frustrated with Adobe Flash and Fedora 10

First, let me say that I am posting this thread after about 2 hours of trying to solve this problem on my own by searching high and low on this and many other sites.

I am simply trying to install the Adobe Flash Player from this site: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. I've downloaded the yum and rpm packages and have opened both with the package installer through the file browser. Both seem to install just fine, but then when I restart Firefox and try to load a page with Flash content, it says I don't have Flash Player.

How do I install Adobe Flash Player for Firefox on Fedora 10???

The above link gives you a very good example of what you need. But if you still have problems the best way is to download the tarball and install it.

That link helped me out. It gave me a bunch of errors, still, but when I opened up Firefox the flash player worked finally. Except that the sound didn't work. I know that issue has been addressed elsewhere, so I'll look into that (if anybody could post a link to getting the sound to work in flash, that would be helpful).

Also, for future reference, how do you go about installing the tarball files? Is there a guide to that somewhere?
