I suffered from win o.s. I want to change to linux but i'm afraid i can't
understand it . is it easy ? and what is the dist. you suggest to use for the first time and support my lang. arabic ? last I'm sorry for my english

ubuntu? it's the easiest thing to get into

Using Linux is no less easy than using Windows or OSX. If you can learn Windows (as you seem to have), you can learn Linux, too.

I've found this to be a handy overview of the major non-technical differences between Windows and Linux.

I'll second the Ubuntu suggestion, too. Though Fedora and Mandriva are hardly complex.

There is a ubuntu-arabic mailing list here, though I can't read it to forewarn you of any problems you might have. I know there *was* a healthy arabic translation effort in Ubuntu, but I've never really followed it, just come across it occasionally.

Please don't apologize for the English---it's better than some native speakers!!

You should be able to set up anything in the top ten on the "hit list" at distrowatch

I'm headed there now to see if they list the supported languages. Also, try a Google search using something like "linux arabic"

I'm sure I remember seeing an option to set the default language to arabic while installing Debian; I suspect most main distributions have support; you may have to know enough english to get through the installation. There may be distributions with an arabic installer though.

And "foda" surely means something quite different in arabic....;)

I was just reading up on localization (i10n) and internationalization (i18n). A Linux distro which supports this will give you a choice of languages. On my system, it looks like there is a choice of 18 arabic dialects.
