New user, got some issues...

I took the challenge of setting up a dual-boot system on a laptop with no floppy drive. Fortunately it went smoothly, bringing me to where I am right now...

Two problems are nagging right now (there was a third, but I figured out how to change which kernel is booted)

First is I'm having trouble installing Firefox (mozilla.org). I followed the instructions, downloaded and extracted the installer. Running the script the installer GUI pops up fine, and asks me for directory, etc. However, the moment the install starts the window vanishes, no error messages, not even in the shell. It's a little mystifying and I haven't been able to get much help... any ideas? =)

The second is, this is a Centrino laptop, and getting wireless capability would be very helpful. I've found this project: ipw2200.sourceforge . I downloaded the Red Hat/Fedora RPMs. The firmware installed fine, and I assume that I have the wireless tools/extensions, but I need to step-by-step that would be very hard to get because it covers so much I don't know about Linux drivers. Should I just wait a couple of years first? =)

Well, that's what I have for now... thanks in advance!

Regarding firefox: I think there is some problem when running mozilla and firefox together at the same time. Try quitting any mozilla apps before trying firefox. If that doesn't work, try renaming (always backup) your ~/.mozilla directory and then running firefox.

# mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla_bkp
# firefox &

Never mind, I just extracted the tar wrong (it's better to do it from the shell) But any suggestions for the ipw2200 wireless?
