Hello, I am very new to the whole linux OS. I have had experience in Windows operation systems and some hardware experience. So down to the problem i installed red hat 9 on my computer, and there seems to be a problem. The computer is kind of old and its specs are a AMD athalone 1.1 ghrtz a Voodoo 3dfx 2000 512 ram pc133 60 gig western digital and i am not sure about what kind of motherboard it is. The installation went fine, but the computer doesn't seem to be running well. I was exploring the games and some of the more graphical ones like chromium or tux racer ran very badly even when the options were set to the lowest possible. I was reading about red hat and it said that the main versions were for the pentium architecture and for other proccesors you should contact the vendor for different releases. I was wondering if there was some kind of patch for the cpu or maybe its the graphics card thats the problem. Any and all input would be greatly apreciated.

Its a graphics card problem. I had the same problem with my NVIDIA MX440 card, once I downloaded the NVIDIA drivers though it ran like a charm.
DOWNLOAD the linux drivers for your card if they are available. Your computer has more than enough power to run RED HAT very nicely -JAx |
Thanks for the info. I will check it out, but what if i can't find anything for linux because the card manufacture has since gone out of buisness?

Dont know.
Do a google search, if that fails Try posting a topic on getting Voodoo 3dfx 2000 drivers. Someone might tell you where to find them. -JAX |
