can u guys plz help me out /.....?
i installed the vmware and installed the virtual win98 from a cd and i boot it up from a win98 boot disk and i enter fdisk and make a partition to put windows on it, its working and everything is fine, but how for example to i install msn 6, is there a way to copy files from my real FAT32 partitions or any other partition to this fake C: drive ??

No, the two systems are independant. You are running in a virtual computer.

Actually, you could problem "network" them together, but I don't know how.

if u're running vmware 4, run the vmware-config.pl script again and say yes to networking(if u didn't before), then set any ip u want for the virtual network. Afterwards edit the properties of your VM and look at the Nic option. It'll let you select which vmnet you want to use, i think by default vmnet0 is bridged mode, which means it uses your nic directly, vmnet8 is virtual network with virtual nics, use this if you don't want vmware to temper with your physical nic ot if u don't have one.
if u want to use bridged mode(which i recommend) then u setup samba on your host machine to do file sharing, you treat the VM as another independent machine on the network.
the virtual network mode has its own NAT, DHCP daemon and Samba which IMO makes things more complicated if u also have these services running on the host machine, therefore use bridged mode if u can.

so u guys mean that there isn't any way that u can access the fat partitions in vmware :confused:

i am not sure what your problem is, Are you running VMWare under linux? by the nature of your question i would guess not, also you seem to have installed Win98 in the Virtual Machine...

Am i right? now, both VMWare and virtual PC come with a menu wich says install extentions, that basically adds a video driver to better handle the virtual display and better mouse control (grabbing and ungrabing as the mouse goes in or out of the Virtual Window)

ok back to your acces question... if you are doing it the way i suspect, you only need to have given a diferent IP under Virtual Networking ( the best mode you could use for what you want ) than the one your real computer has...

Sadly i am very rusty on VMWare and i am currently away on vacations so i cant acces my PC at Home, but give me a couple of days to get back and if you still need help, i can set it up to guide you on the steps

so plz help me as soon as possible

btw i'm using vmware under linux, (why else would i try to install win98 on it ;) )
