Exclamation New to Linux. What is best way to install so I can put it on vmware workstation

I am new to Linux and need to install Linux Suse. I have no idea what to do. Should I install it to my computer then put it on the vmware? I don't want to use it as my primary OS i just want to install a basic system of it so I can use it on vmware. I am taking classes and need to get it installed 2 weeks ago. I have a 64-bit computer with Vista.

Try to find and download a 'Virtual Appliance', which will be 'ready-to-run' in VMWare.

Failing that:

Download a SuSE installation .iso
Create a new virtual machine in VMWare. Create the disk image for it.
Set the virtual machine to boot from the .iso image
Install SuSE in the virtual machine
