New to LINUX - Need some help with IP

I know this is probably in the wrong forum but I have set-up a new Smoothwall as a DSL firewall...things are going fine BUT I need to block access from the network to certain IP addresses and also block certain IPs coming in.
I know that it is something to do with Ipchains/tables but cannot make any sense of them, please help

Thanks

Si

Well here is a simple iptables rule

iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --source ! 127.0.0.1 --dport 631 -j REJECT --reject-with tcp-reset

These block all incoming TCP connections at port 631 ( default cups server port ) if the source is not localhost. You can get much more complex examples @ http://netfilter.samba.org documentation section.

Cartman, thanks, but I seem to have ipchains....
What I am trying to do is block ALL ports from and to a certain IP, can that be done?

Cheers

Si
