New to Linux, I need help booting my computer w/ Knoppix.

My OS is XP. The first time I used the CD was on another XPOS and all I had to do was hit the F12 button then choose the right boot option. I've tried that on my but nothing happened. I tried hitting the Delete button but that took me to the wrong place.

My question is, what is the right key to push during the boot process to use my live Knoppix CD-R?

you need to go into setup and set it to boot to cd drive which it seems like you did. Are you sure that the cd is burned correctly. You have to burn the iso file on to the disk you dont just copy the file. Also check the md5sums to verify that the file is correct.

The "other" box you were on had a boot menu feature in the bios. If yours doesn't you will have to setup your bios to boot from cd before HD.

I know the CD was copied correctly cause as I said I've used it before, earlier today to be precise. The "other" screen had a blue background. I looked around but didn't want to mess anything up on my computer so I clicked exit without saving. On the other computer (From school) I would restart the computer wait till the load screen came up where I then hit the F12 button and then chose the 'boot from CD-R/DVD option and everything after that worked just fine. Knoppix loading without me doing anything else other than that. I the the blue screen is what I work with, would someone tell me where to go so I don't screw up my whole system?

Thanks.

that one where it asked about saving sounds like the bios. You need to go to the option called boot sequence or something like that. There will probably be three options (floppy, harddrive, cdrom). You need to make sure cdrom is selected and that it is on top so it will try to boot first. Then exit with saving and restart. With the cd in the cd drive it should install linux

Help some cds boot others dont! even live cds dont co-operate.
I am frustrated and downright discouraged.
