new to linux
I recently switched from MS Win vista and so on..... Faedup by viruses and antiviruses and routine loss of data. I am new to the system and learning to install the programmes/applications to ubuntu. I will try to never switch back

And for your help here are some of the links for installing applications on ubuntu: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/installingsoftware https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingSoftware If you know the name of a specific application, you can use Synaptic (System → Administration → Synaptic Package Manager). The advantage to using these methods are that you will be automatically notified of updates.
