New terminal definition

I am using a Compaq ipaq and telnetting into my Slackware Linux 9 box. This works OK, except that the telnet session keeps complaining

'ipaq': unknown terminal type.

Right before that, it says:

csh: No entry for terminal type "ipaq"
chs: using dumb terminal settings.

Now, I have hacked in an ipaq terminal type into "termcap". Is there something else that I am missing?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

hmm try entering at the telnet prompt something like
TERM=vt100 export TERM
or perhaps replace the VT100 with xterm
then see what happens
