Wink New stuff for me

Hello!

I am a Computer Science student and trying to learn all that I can to get into the Security/Forensic/Networking systems. Now I am taking my very first OOS.I choose to use Ubuntu as suggested for beginners. Having troubles with it and terminal commands, and mounting/unmounting appications. I need assistance....tons. I have Linux+ Guide to Linux Certification 3rd addition. I need help with the Review and Discovery Questions at the end of the chapters. Professor does not post what I get right/wrong. I am just lost.

All help appreciated!!!

Thanks

Susan g. Palm

Welcome to LQ. best read some basic Linux tutorials, maybe some distribution documents and then ask specific questions.

We won't do your homework for you but if you have specific questions and can show the result of what you've tried help is here, just ask.

If you have specific questions you are free to ask them here, but we are not here to do your homework for you, I would recommend going to a TA at your university for help with your homework assignments.
If you do have a specific question or are having difficulty making something work in linux, a quick search on google can be very effective in finding fast answers, but you are free to ask those types of questions here.
When creating a topic on the forum, please use an informative subject line and provide as much detail about your problem as you can in the original post.

There are a lot of people here to help, but we need to know what, exactly, is wrong, or what part of the linux experience you are finding difficult.

On to your actual issue, for some info on how to get started on linux I would recommend these links:

http://www.archive.org/search.php?qu...%22&usort=date (A bit out of date but most of it still applies and Chess is a great host and did a great job on this show, I highly recommend listening to as much of this as you can)
http://goinglinux.com/ (Look through their archives a bit, they cover a lot of basic info)
http://linuxconfig.org/Bash_scripting_Tutorial (Learn basic Bash scripting)
http://www.unixguide.net/linux/linuxshortcuts.shtml (for help with the terminal)

Welcome to linux, I hope you learn to love it as much as I have.
