new rpm installs hide all mandrake tools
Bit of a weird problem here.
I followed some rpm instructions on PLF and now whenever a new package is installed my Kmenu only contains some very basic non-mandrake progs. What I did was: su urpmi.addmedia local file://home/user_name/rpms urpmi.update local with my own rpms directory of course, not home/user_name/rpms. I can fix the problem by "upgrading" my Mandrake 9.2 to Mandrake 9.2 but I can't stand doing this every time. Maybe next time I won't be such an idiot and do ANYTHING I don't understand as root again, but hey, you live and learn. Thanks in advance, Gav |
type update-menus -v at a command prompt
this will rebuild the menus the process appears to hang after a short while and does not return to the command prompt just close the terminal manually |
Cheers mate!
I actually found out how to remove that "local" rpm dir I created so it's fine now but I actually did need to know how to update my menus for a different problem. I suppose me and my atheistic ways will have to agree in this case that Jesus does save... (you're Jesus, right?). Once again, cheers! |
