new laptop ignoring Ubunto installation cd

I try to install Ubunto 8.04 from a cd on a new laptop that came with Linpus. It completely ignores the cd. I have chacked the cd on a different pc (with windows on it) and it works fine.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure that your BIOS is set to detect cd before hard drive?

The Bios Boot Drive Sequence should be Floppy Disk First, CD Drive Second and Hard Drive Third.
You Can reach the BIOS setup at Power UP time by punching a Function Key (Usually F2) immediately after power up. Then use arrow keys to scroll over to Boot Sequence selection Tab.

In any event you need to, as stated earlier, make sure that the PC will check the CD for a bootloader before it goes to the hard drive boot process.
