New Kernel worth installing?

Does the latest Kernel (2.6.7) have any major advantages over my current kernel? (2.4.26) I'm looking for a performance boost, but an unsure if a new kernel would do it.

Can anyone who upgraded tell me if it was worth it?

Please advise.

I dunno if this is the same for everyone..but I installed Fedora Core 2 (came with kernel 2.6.5) and the updater loaded 2.6.7.

When I installed my nvidia drivers, 2.6.7 wouldn't load, so I had to revert to 2.6.5 to get them working right....so....I dunno...

It has new low latency schedulers etc, but that's all beside the point that if you need some drivers or programs that are 2.4 only, you wont be able to use it. So firstly check you dont have any graphics/modem drivers which wont follow you through the upgrade. :)

Fedora core 2 has some performance boost writen into its kernel which unfortunatly, and rather stupidly makes it incompatiable with the nVidia drives.
I would hope that a good people at RedHat will fix this before core 3 arrive 'cause it's spoilling an otherwise great distro!
