Im a newbie well kind of as ive seen and used linux before but ive only just got round to installing linux on a partition on my HD, im already warming to linux, just got a question as im here, is there a list of programs which your able to use with linux ? i was after a program like msn for use with linux
Different distros have different package managers and different ways of searching for pre-packaged software. For Debian based systems it's just: apt-cache search (keywords)
For MSN-like stuff I think I used 'kopete' which is part of KDE, but there are other options.

Which version of Linux do you have? You will find a huge selection of SW using the package manager.
