New Box Build Not Powering Up...

and i think it is due to the ram. actually, it does power up b/c the green light goes on, but nothing else powers up (computer, fans, other lights, etc).

i think it is the ram b/c i took a stick out of a working box to use for this build and when i moved the second stick in the first slot, it did the same thing b/c it wasn't seated well.

i have asus a8sx motherboard that takes ram in the form of:

4 x DIMM, max. 4GB, DDR400, ECC, non-ECC, un-buffered memory
Dual Channel Architecture

the ram i tried to use is:

DDR1, VS1GB400C3, PC3200, 1024MB, 128Mx64, 184 DIMM

am i right that i right that the ram is the likely culprit?

also, i'm a bit confused on when the ATX12V connector applies. as it stands, i have a cable with two connectors - one 20 pin and one 4 pin. the wires run together and these two connectors actually have a "connector" of their own to mate the two into one 24 pin connector. i assume both of these get connected together and installed in the 24 pin ATXPWR connector. i also assume i leave the ATX12V empty since my power supply doesn't have a connector for that slot.

is this right or is my guess wrong?

tia...

i think i found the problem. i believe...

DDR1, VS1GB400C3, PC3200, 1024MB, 128Mx64, 184 DIMM

uses 128MB memory chips - and my mobo chipset doesn't support 128MB memory chips.
