Hey everyone, Im new to linux. Here is what I have and what Id like to know. I am running SuSe Professional 9.1 and I have 2 hard drives on RAID, RAID1 Master:40 gb western digital, RAID2 Master: 160 GB Seagate. My boot drive is the 40 gb and my problem is that that drive contains files from when I had it as a secondary hd on windows. I need to get to those files and copy them over to my 160 and make the rest of that drive usable to linux. The files are things like music, videos and website stuff. SuSe has seemed to mount automaticly a /windows/C/ but there is nothing but the standard . and .. underneath. Does anyone know how to get to my files, SuSe says that my windows partition is hda1 and its NTFS. Also does anyone know any good websites that contain references for SuSe, kinda like an online manual? Thanks

So you need to move stuff off the hard drive you want to install linux on? Why don't you just burn it to cd with windows first? Have you tried the expert partitioning option in the Suse installation?

Ill check those forums out but my main hard drive that ran windows failed so thats why the secondary is now the primary and it doesnt have enough room to install windows to it and i for some reason cant get windows installed on the 160 and I already have linux installed just cant figure out why i cant get to my files.

Is the partition where you are trying to get your files NTFS? If so, that's your problem. On my Suse install, I had to manually mount my ntfs data hard drive before I could even see the data.

Do you have any idea what is going on with Windows not being able to install? Do you get any specific error?
