Never used linux before.Please give me some guidance on what book or manuals I should
 
buy.I have just got Ubuntu 12.01 and find it very interesting but still struggling.I have managed to set up 2 emails and used Gramps a little with gedcom but my failure is I know not a thing about Linux,totally in the dark and only a very average Windows user but what should I buy or find on the internet a book/s or free beginners tutorials.I have just bought the Ubuntu Made Easy by R.Grant and Phil Bull and find very good for ubuntu but I need to find out more about linux system so That I can use this better.

You can just click on "Linux Tutorials" in the Main Menu (located on the right of your screen when using LinuxQuestions. There will be plenty of further suggestions found in the items there.

Slackware Essentials is a good book to have on hand also. It's mostly for Slackware, but it can be used for a wide variety of distributions.

Learning Linux isn't a matter of reading random tutorials, it's about deciding on something you want to do, and then researching how you would do it. Guides like those posted above might help occasionally (rarely), but chances are you'd be better off just Googling for what you want to do and going from there.

The best advice I can give you is to use the machine like you would any other OS, and when you run into something you'd like to do but can't figure out how, Google it. When Google fails you, check the guides linked above, when they fail you, post on LQ to ask for assistance.
