NetworkManager won't connect wirelessly...

Hi...I'm running Fedora 8 / Gnome on my laptop.

I enabled NetworkManager, and while it works on my wired (Ethernet) connection, it won't connect wirelessly. The laptop does work wirelessly (it's connected right now) but only when going through System > Administration > Network.

When attempting to connect, NetworkManager sees the available networks, but when I try to connect, it asks for the Passphrase. I entered it, and it would not connect. I went into my router, removed the Passphrase, and tried again. It still would not connect.

Strangely, the passphrase was enabled the entire time, and yet it was always able to connect having never prompted for the phrase, and another Windows XP laptop in the house is connected, again, having never had to enter the passphrase.

Ideas?

TIA

Is it an Intel Prowireless chipset? I think there is a known issue between that chipset and Fedora 8. Google 'Fedora 8' and your chipset, see if anything pops up. I seem to remember a friend of mine having this same problem.

No, it's an Orinoco chipset.

Actually, I had an Intel Pro internally, and I removed it. I had read those cards had a problem staying connected and had that actual problem, even after playing with the power settings. It was, however, during the time I had PCLinuxOS installed, which always was a little weird for me to begin with.

I may reinstall the Intel board because 1) it's internal (freeing up my PCMCIA slot) and 2) it does 802.11g, unlike my B-only Orinoco-chipped card.
