Red face networking

Hello !!

I use debian version. It's really cool !! Except when it doesn't work...

My PCMCIA network card is well recognized and works.
I allready have a network in the past with internet...

But today, "ifconfig eth0" returns :
eth0: unknown interface : no such device

???!!!

I searched "eth0" with "find / | grep eth0" but nothing appears.
What happened with my network ??

I really need help

check to see if ure pcmcia are loaded correctly.
retrace ure steps review any config changes to /etc/modules.conf, or similar, module parameters changes, in general stuff that deals with pcmcia loading, maybe newer installed modutils etc etc.
check physical seating of the device, check physical wiring.
view logs like /var/log/{messages,dmesg} | grep eth0.
