Network Setup Problem

I just installed RedHat 9 with Kernel 2.4.20 about a week ago and I am having trouble in setting up an ethernet connection. I have an onboard 3Com Gigabit LOM 3C940 that came in my Asus P4P800 which is working perfectly on Win XP. When I try and do the setup, first of all, RH only shows the following 3Com devices:

3Com 3C501 [set as default by RH]
3Com 3C515 Corkscrew
3Com 3C574 Series PCMCIA
3Com 3C589 Series PCMCIA
3Com 3C590 / 3C595 / 3C90x / 3Cx980
3Com EtherLink II
3Com EtherLink III
3Com EtherLink 16
3Com EtherLink Plus

I've tried using both the 3C501 and (3C590 / 3C595 / 3C90x / 3Cx980) choices but neither works. I checked the properties of my 3Com on Win XP and found this:

PCI bus 2, device 5, function 0

Another thing, I've tried the above settings along with eth0 and eth4 (since its device 5). Neither of which works. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

try the sk98lin module during setup. It's not a 3com card!
