Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

We have recently setup Netgear VPN box over 1Mbps broadband connection. The other side we have B class network and our side C class network. Resources are shared between these two network through Netgear VPN box over 1 Mbps broadband. We usually keep pinging one of the B class network systems to ensure the connectivity is up. Initially ping reply was fast without 'Request timed out', but now we are getting every 5-10 reply one or two 'Request timed out'. In this regard, complained with ISP that broadband connection is breaking very often. They said that our connection is perfect and no problem at their side. They also asked to check SNR value in router and found 24 for download and 30 for upload which is perfect. Hence, they asked to check our network.
Now, i request to let me know any free network monitoring software to check and what i have to observe given the above scenario. An example would hihgly help me.
