network "how do i..."


how to access data on my winXP machine that's connected to the same net connection through a router. i've heard its possable. no idea how to even begin such a task. total noobsticle.

running SuSE 9.1

Hi!

I hope you know about Windows file sharing (don't know about XP, but it used to be called "NetBIOS over TCP/IP"). Linux can do that too. You need to find information about a software suite called Samba for Linux.

thnx for the help,

networks just isnt my area of expertise, never has been despite efforts to change that.

i have samba now, still havn't got it all doing though.
