network configuration


hilo sorry for these basic questions:

1- i want to define IP adress/ subnet mask and default gateway for my linux box

could you help me

i did it using ifconfig very easily ...but everytime i reboot ..the config is not there anymore
thx to help me pls


2- i m using DHCP(and so dhcpcd) . i want it activated at the boot ...how can i do this

thx in advance

man dhcpd.conf
vi dhcpd.conf

Or you could tell us exactly what your network setup is.

Depending on what version of linux you have running you can use linuxconf and under networking enter the info for your ethernet card. netconfig is another tool to configure your card.
