Network Adapter reporting no cable connected..

I am in verse to troubleshoot the network adapter. I have a server with 8 network adapter. I can list those adapters through lspci -vv.Those are intel adapters. When I am trying to assign static IP or I try enabling dhcp ip through service it reports no cable connected.
Any idea how can I troubleshoot this issue? the adapter is Intel pro/1000 "AF" quad port bypass adapter.

Does it report "no cable" if you configure via DHCP?

Intel web site has tools and drivers for linux.

Is the cable correct for the situation? example patch or crossover?

Did you test the cable on some other nic to prove it is OK?

The first step is make sure this is not a hardware problem; if it is a hardware problem, all the software troubleshooting in the world won't fix it.

First find a cable that you know works, either because it's in use or because you have tested it with a cable tester.

Make sure the cable is properly seated in the ports at both ends. If the far end is plugged into a router or hub, plug it into a port which you know works (perhaps one currently serving another device).

If it still doesn't work, connect the cable to another computer where you know the ethernet port works and test it. If the cable works in those circumstances, it may well be the port on the eithernet card (or the ethernet card itself).

I have correctly connected cable.I did run couple of commands like ethtool -i eth5 which shows Speed And Duplex : Unknown. Its e1000e driver.ethtool -a eth5 reports RX and TX on.
The Command ethtool -S eth5 shows shows everything as 0.
Any idea how can I troubleshoot or use which intel driver utility.

Put in a loop back connector. Does the message go away? Does the nic light blink or stay on with the loopback?
