Netscape 7 prompts for new profile on multiple launches

Installed Netscape 7 on Red Hat 8 using offline installer, installation went smoothly without error, on launching ./netscape with a panel shortcut to open multiple browsers I get prompted to select another profile, because the existing one is already in use.

I would like to have the shortcut simply open a browser window using the existing profile.

I have searched the web, read Netscape F.A.Q's and removed Mozilla using RPM to no avail.

Thanks in advance

An easy way around this is to just type:

Control+N

to open up another browser.

have you tried clicking on file/new/navigator window (ctrl+N)
right clicking on a link also gives the option of opening a new window

Set the launcher to run

netscape -remote 'xfeDoCommand(openBrowser)'

that will achieve the effect you want (or at least it does on mozilla)

spoke too soon. It will work if there is already a netscape session open... it will not work at all to bring up the first session.
Well, what next?
is there something else that can be done?

I think that's why you need a shell script - sucks huh? This sort of stuff should have been built in to Moz from day one, but for some reason wasn't.
