Howto get access to netflix with explanations on how to do the individual steps considering I am truly a newbie. Thanks

1. This is from the Wiki Netflix page:

Are you running a Debian-based distro such as Ubuntu, Mint, Debian?

If so, you can install the "netflix-desktop" package from this PPA: http://www.compholio.com/netflix-desktop/

Note this warning:

It is also worth noting it is not endorsed, provided, or supported in any way by Ubuntu/Mint/Debian. It is third-party software.

If you are running Windows/Mac then this is not necessary. Your operating system has native support for Netflix following the instructions on the Netflix site. :)

If you are outside the USA you can not view many of these sites. for example Netflix, Hulu, Pandora. You need to use PureVPN to watch Hulu, Netflix outside US anywhere in world.

It boggles my mind how netflix could put its app on android and those streaming media boxes that uses linux and yet they can't support a linux desktop. Amazon is different I can buy a movie and watch it on my browser with no issues and this is in linux.

I think you missed my post #5. I am watching Netflix flawlessly on my Linux desktop. ;)

I did saw your post but the warning message deter me from installing this third party which is not from netflix, so I am a little leery of using it.

it is the MPAA required DRM and the use of MS Silverlight
even MS wants to kill off silverlight , but it is being used by way too many for DRM
