Netboot in GRUB

Hi,

I am trying to use netboot functionality available in GRUB(legacy). I just compiled GRUB with --enable-diskless and --enable-rtl8139 options and installed in USB flash drive. I am getting the grub prompt when tried to boot from that USB. But not getting bootp command..what i need to do to enable bootp command??

If you have the grub prompt you need to enter the instructions for the boot menu. I can not give you the step by step because I would need to know what partition and which distro you are using. Do you have a distro on this flash drive?

I admit I had never heard about netbooting using grub - it's cool! This guy http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/G...E_network_boot is using a different command - dhcp and root (nd) instead of [bootp], could you give that a go?

Can't say but take a look at gpxe. It may work if you can't get this working.

My kernel(Ubuntu-10.04) is in hard disk (partition 1).

First I may misunderstand you but you are trying to boot ubuntu 10.04. If so I have tried and never had success at using grub legacy to boot an ext4 file system except by chainloading. A couple of distros that I know of (Open Suse and Fedora) use ext4 with a modified grub legacy.
