Have particular trouble with getting function wizard to do simple statistics. Have gotten as far as getting function formula displayed in the dialog box, but the column of figures I have chosen will not enter and/or the formula does not insert into the column of figures. Have used my spreadsheet to do average, mode and median the old fashioned way, but getting very frustated not being able to get the function wizard to work. Need a tutorial and or a printed how-to instruction book to help me use this as well as the .odt writing program which I have in a msn business program. Many thanks for your help.
Hi barbaraharsanyi, Welcome to lq. This is Open Office we're taling about? What version? Are you getting an error #?
Good luck. ;-)
Hello peacedog:
my program is Open Office 2.2. I have been getting error numbers 510, 511 and 525. Don't know where to look up what these mean! I have also discovered that my operating system is not Linux - my husband has Linux and the Open Office was transferred from his computer. My new computer is a Toshiba and the operating system is Windows Vista Business Version. Where do I go for help?
Thank you!
But you don't have a Windows issue--you have an OpenOffice issue. The built-in help function is pretty good.
I just did the median of a group of numbers. Select insert-->function. select "median", then drag thru the list of numbers to define the range. Seems to work fine.
I've seen books on OpenOffice (try Amazon), but I do better with trial and error.
Off-topic: You can't transfer Open Office from a Linux computer to a Windows computer. My guess is that he simply installed the Windows version.
