The first time you connect to box, it'll ask if you really want to (checks for a known address/ssh cert). After that, it'll always remember.

In answer to your qn, yes it's part of (prob) all std Linux distros, but you may have to enable the listening daemon..

basic scp cmd (see man scp) is:
scp thisfile user@machine:/path/to/tgtdir
is copy thisfile to user @ specified box (ip or name works) and put in nominated dir (must be full path)
