Need to reinstall Window$

I need to reinstall Window$ because its so slow and the system is cluttered with half installed service packs. I need to know if when I reinstall will it destroy Grub on my MBR to boot into Linux?
I have a 40 gig drive partitioned into 2 20 gig with Window$ 2K on the first (c) and RedHat 8 on the other using Grub as my boot loader.
Thanks for the help.

Yes it will.

You didn't really think Microsoft would make it easy to use another OS, did you?

Just make a LINUX boot disk. You will be alright.

On a similar note, I've just installed SuSE 9.0 and seeing how amazing it was decided to get rid of WinXP and just keep WinME as a dual boot with SuSE. The thing is XP has left it's boot manager behind, so my computer now boots up into GRUB and then the window$ boot manager comes on....my question is how the hell do I get rid of it?

M$ has made it a little trickey to do this. Since Grub is written on the MBR, the Windows boot manager is written on the first sector of its partition. So you will have to wipe out that partition, and re-install ME.

I recently re-installed Windows XP Pro on my computer after RH 9. After it was done re-installing I just loaded the first disk of my RH Distro, booted to rescue mode, chroot /mnt/sysimage, and reinstalled grub using: grub-install /dev/hda1. After that everything worked fine! Even if Windows does write over GRUB just re-install that!
