Need to open a .jnlp file
 
Hello all I am sure glad there is a newb section on this site as I fit the bill... I am trying to open a .jnlp file and am not sure what to use or if I need to install something to get it to work I can do that.. With a little instruction that is.. ;o) Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.. Take care... Oh I am using Mandriva if that make a difference.. Thanks

Hmmm, I think this file extension is used for some Java Web Start applet ... you may have to use a Web Brower with Java support to open the file.

in the Applications tab > click on Install and Remove Software > type in "your_root_user_passwword" > in the Find box type "java-1.5.0*" and press enter > select java-1.5.0-sun > click on the Apply button to install it.

side note: i've found that java-1.5.0-sun is the most compatible with other software and least likely to have any problems. your M/G may vary
