Need to disable graphical login before booting
I need to find a way to force redhat linux 9 w/grub boot loader to boot to the text-based login screen. Otherwise, my screen goes black when the graphical login screen should come up. I have read other posts suggesting I edit various files, but I cannot get into linux yet, and I can't figure out how to edit a file in Grub. Any suggestions?
Thanks. -Chris |
as the grub menu comes up press 'e' for edit . it should give you a boot prompt select the kernel and at the end type single after a single space.
this should boot you into singel user mode. you can then edit /etc/inittab and change to run level 3 |
