/etc/resolv.conf. Note that there's no e at the end of "resolv". Your entry for a DNS server should be in the form "nameserver x.x.x.x", where x.x.x.x is the IP address.
right on thank you again for your help, it seems to be working fine now, the only proplem i have not sure if it is really a problem is i have to load he modules each and every time i restart the comuter, but since I am using this to run a mysql server it is really of no bother to me.
