Need some help configuring Transmission on server

I am trying to run Transmission of the Pogoplug server I have installed with Arch Alarm. I installed transmission-cli using these instructions and started the daemon

when I go to my ip:9091 I get an error:

Code:

403: Forbidden

Unauthorized IP Address.

Either disable the IP address whitelist or add your address to it.

If you're editing settings.json, see the 'rpc-whitelist' and 'rpc-whitelist-enabled' entries.

If you're still using ACLs, use a whitelist instead. See the transmission-daemon manpage for details.

I have tried both adding my ip to the config and disabling whitelist but still can't get to the config page. Any thoughts?

make sure you stop the daemon before editing settings.json otherwise changes will be overwritten with defaults (or settings when daemon started) when daemon stops, also check /bin/transmission-daemon that it points to the correct user - if you start daemon using other than root it creates separata settings.json in that users folder and reads that one
