Thanks Chris. Well explained.
I started this thread with the subject 'Need Ribbon Cable Help Returning to Linux.' What a difference one day can make. With the help of MartinN, Lugoteehalt and Chris, I was able to help myself and can help others from now on. I value all of your time and try to learn things myself but yesterday I felt like asking for some.
With the ribbon cables configured correctly, my lone obstacle to a 100% linux reunion was determining why my BIOS would not detect my floppy drive. That was much easier, I installed a different floppy drive which worked, so now I can use SmartBootManager to boot from my Slackware 9 CD, get the HD working again and share that Linux-compatible modem with my two other computers!
Again I return to total and absolute Linux! It's been a long two days without my favorite code. Vi, Blackbox, Bash, Firebird, Top to name a few lines...Time to customize everything just the way I want. Again thanks MartinN, Lugoteehalt and Chris.
