Sorry but i am a total :newbie: thanx for any help

mdk should put the appropriate menu item into your Kmenu after you install gaim. if not please read this: http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/tril...27/021212.html

Ignore me, the above explains what I had in mind.
ok so basicaly i tried to download the gaim rpm again and it ask me what do i want to open it with? I am so lost now, any ideas what to do?
Why not reinstall from the CD using Mandrake control centre?
Thats a great idea, Being this is my 2nd day on linux I am not sure how to do that, guess i will google a bit.
Click on the start menu - goto 'configuration - Packaging - Install Software'
type in your root password when requested and the mandrake installer will appear. Now type gaim into the search box and select the necessary packages. There will be lots to choose from but start at least with the basic gaim package and let it pick any dependencies (if there are any) Simply choose install and the rest should be done for you! :) Good luck! |
AWESOME!!!! THAT DID WHEW!! THANKS BLANKFRANK

No Probs
I'm learning linux and Mandrake too at the moment. It can get frustrating - I'm a pretty accomplished MS person - so it's really a case of back to school with this. I don't half feel dumb sometimes but it is rewarding when you get things to work :) Cheers! |
You mean Gaim cannot connect?
If not what has given you that message? |
anyone having that error as well?
when i try connecting to yahoo thru gaim, it starts to connect then gives me the following "chat name has been disconnected...unable to read" thats all it says.
