Need help with hpdv5000

so, i was trying to get lubuntu working well on my desktop when i realized i would much rather try out ubuntu on my laptop. so i installed it and can dual boot now. this is as much as i know about linux. the issue that i am having is that right now (while im on windows xp boot up) my physical wifi toggle switch works, but the second i boot up with ubuntu its like its never worked at all. and seeing as how i have no way as of right now to have a wired connection to my laptop (and also kinda defeats the purpose of it being a wireless computer)i would really like to do whatever i can to help resolve this issue. i will help as much as i can but remember, the only way i can reply is by being booted into windows
