Need help with BIOS & shot CD-ROM drive...

Hello guys, I need a quick hand here. My cd-rom drive is shot. I want to install a few packages from disc but when I do, rpmdrak always prompts me to use the shot cd-rom drive. Even If I put the cd in the DVD-rom drive, it still wants me to use the cd-rom drive.

My question: Must I go into BIOS and change the DVD-ROM drive to primary/master and change the CD-R drive to secondary/slave? Or can I change the path inside of Mandrake 10.0 official (powerpack)? Please guys, i'll admit, I only searched about 10 pages here for this type of problem only because i'm on a limited time schedule. Please help.

Also, if I go into BIOS and make those changes, must I change some sort of dip switch on the drives?

Likely the problem lies in /etc/fstab. If you have a good cdrom then edit the fstab and change the address of the cdrom.

Am I to edit these two lines and swap the "2" that comes after the dev/hdc/mnt/cdrom?

/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
/dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom2 auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0

It worked!!!! I swapped the "2" in there and tried to install some packages and presto, the dvd-rom tray popped out! Thank goodness!
